The biennial Offshore Technology Conference Asia (OTC Asia) was hosted by PETRONAS in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in March-April 2026, highlighting energy transition, decarbonization, digitalization, and AI.  Almost 26,000 professionals participated from 89 countries.  AUI Systems had the opportunity to meet with clients, partners, and other participants to exchange ideas including innovative applications of AUI’s cognitive platform for planning and operations.  

AUI co-presented a technical paper “Cognitive Drilling AI: Transforming Activity Logs into Actionable Insights” that was co-authored with PETRONAS and AEM Enersol.  The paper details how the understanding of around 480 unique drilling and completion activities and related durations for 1000 historical offset wells was automated by processing drilling report textual activity descriptions, using a cognitive, knowledge-based AI platform – collapsing previously human analysis time by 99%, at an accuracy of between 80% to 90%.
